Irma M. Pitcher

Irma M. Pitcher, 89, of Grand Island, Nebraska died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.  Dan Naranjo will officiate.  Entombment of ashes will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. 

There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pitcher was born August 4, 1920 on a farm near Cushing, Nebraska the daughter of Glenn and Viola (Hanisch) Paulsen.

She married Jim Pitcher December 27, 1952 in Alliance, Nebraska.  He preceded her in death in 1990.

Survivors of the immediate family include sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Audrey Pitcher and Richard and Diana Pitcher of Grand Island; daughter, Loretta Corcoran of Clovis, California; son, Ken Pitcher of Grand Island; son and daughter-in-law, David and Mary Pitcher of Kearney; brother and sister-in-law, Burt and Alvana Paulsen; twin sister, Irene Pelican and sister-in-law, Ellen Paulsen.

Also surviving are grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and Julie Pitcher, Cathy and Luke Gard, Andrew Pitcher, Ryan and Kelly Pitcher, Cindy and Courtney Harris, Mandy and Lee Dobish, Katie and Chris Lyon, Tina and Matt Mitrione, Aimee Gong and Curtis Pitcher, plus fifteen great-grandchildren.

Irma graduated from Cushing High School in 1938 and St. Paul Business College in 1940.  She worked at several offices including the Hastings Tribune, Ordnance Plant, Lockhead Aircraft, Hodges Chevrolet in Lexington, Minden Beef, Hall County Election and Dramco Tool Company.

She enjoyed working puzzles, some television sports and playing cards with family and friends.  She enjoyed volunteering at the Grand Generation Center.  Irma was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Irma was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ray Paulsen.

Memorials are suggested to the Grand Generation Center.
