Glenn, the only child of the late Earl and Amelia (Larsen) Roberts,
was born in Boelus, Nebraska on December 17, 1936. Immediately
after graduating from Wood River High School in 1956, he entered the
Navy where he was stationed in Italy. Glenn returned to Nebraska
and married Shirley Schroeder. They created a nurturing home in
Alda for their five children and many pets. His love of family
and animals was inspired by his parents. He was the owner of R&K
Lawn Service and Roberts’ Used Cars.
As an active member of the United Methodist Church in Alda, he always
looked forward to Sunday services where he took great joy in celebrating
his faith with his church family. Spending time with his grandchildren
was an activity that he relished; from welcoming his first round of grandchildren,
Jessica, Sarah, Desirée, Felicia, and Jonathan, to chasing his
newest, MaxAlister. In the fall, Glenn’s weekends were filled
with watching football. His other pastime was horse racing. He
always enjoyed a day at the track and was lucky enough to stand in the
winner’s circle with horses he and Shirley owned. In his
younger days, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Amelia; his sister,
Dorothy Stange, and his stepfather, Henry Stevens.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley; his children and their
spouses, Rose and Don Jenkins, Ed and Oliva Roberts, Melvin, Tamela and
David Neyer and Joel; his grandchildren, Jessica Roberts, Sarah Roberts,
Desirée Roberts, Felicia and Gerson Saldana, Jonathan Roberts,
Darrell Tucker, MaxAlister Neyer and expectant Baby Neyer; his expectant
great-grandchild, Baby Roberts; his brother Earl Roberts, Jr.; and his
stepmother, Norma Hochreiter; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Memorials are encouraged to be given to the donor’s charity of
choice.
