LouRae Staton

LouRae Staton, 73, of Grand Island, died Friday, January 1, 2010 at St. Francis Medical Center.

There will be a memorial visitation from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mrs. Staton was born September 10, 1936 at Sac City, Iowa the daughter of Louis and Lucille (Cole) McCrea.Her husband Kenneth Staton preceded her in death on February 17, 2006.

Survivors are sons and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Staton, Jr. of Pensacola, Florida and Patrick and Carol Staton of Omaha, NE and brother and sister-in-law, Louis ‘Bud’ and Claire McCrea of Des Moines, Iowa.

Those also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren, Nicole Staton, Andrew Staton, Kenneth Staton III and special friends, Roger and Carol Mueller and Kellie States.

In addition to her husband her parents and brother, DeLoss McCrea preceded her in death.

LouRae was raised in Sac City, Iowa where she graduated from high school.  She then attended business school.

On September 21, 1958 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Staton at Sac City.  They lived in Omaha before moving to Grand Island.  Lou was a secretary for her husbands company, K&L Grain and she worked at Cabela’s for the past 15 years.  She treasured the many friendships she made at Cabela’s. 

LouRae was an avid reader, enjoyed shopping, had wonderful people skills and enjoyed working in the yard.  Most of all she enjoyed her time spent with family.
