Betty
A. Stroh, 87, of Grand Island, died May 26, at St. Francis Memorial Health
Center in Grand Island.
Betty requested there be no funeral. There will be a private inurnment
service for the family at West Lawn Cemetery.
She was born on July 30, 1922 at Grand Island to William and Augusta
(Hershey) Lechner.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond “Bud” Stroh of Grand
Island, a daughter, Terri Tweedly, and a granddaughter, Kristin Tweedly,
both of Omaha.
Additional survivors include her brother Ted Lechner and sister-in-law
Lorraine Bacon, both of Grand Island, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was married to Raymond Stroh on July 18, 1942, at Smith Center,
Kansas. They spent their 67 years of marriage in Grand Island.
Betty received her education in the Grand Island Public Schools. After
graduation she worked at Kaufman’s Department Store, then at the
Grand Island Army Air Base during World War II. She professionally tinted
photographs for two photography studios, and then became the Volunteer
Coordinator and Gift Shop manager for the Lutheran Memorial Hospital
in Grand Island until retirement.
She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Throughout her life,
her many activities included cooking and baking, crocheting, sewing,
reading, fishing, bowling, golfing, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lorraine Weaver
and Jeannette Stites, and one brother, William Lechner.
