Allen W. Tucker, 85, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand
Island.
Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday,
January 23rd at Calvary Lutheran Church. The Reverend Sheri Lodel
will officiate. To honor Allen’s request, cremation has
taken place. Burial of ashes will be in Grand
Island City Cemetery. All
Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.
There will be no visitation.
Allen was born on December 6, 1924
at St. Paul, NE, the son of Tracy and Edna (Deininger)
Tucker.
Those left to cherish his memory
are his loving wife, Bernice of Grand Island; two daughters and sons-in-law,
Cindy and Doug Crumrine of Cairo, NE and Debby and Dan Bartz of Lincoln;
sisters, Deloris Ohordorf of Colorado Springs, CO and Marlene Speak
of Ashburn, VA; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Jeanette
Andersen of Kearney.
He is also survived by his grandchildren,
Joe and Bea Crumrine of Grand Island, Jill and Jason Vasquez of Grand
Island, Matt and Amber Bartz of Centennial, CO, Emily and Junior
Padilla of Overland Park, KS and Andy Bartz of Hays, KS; two great
grandchildren, Mason Vasquez and Sofia Crumrine; and many nieces
and nephews.
Allen is preceded in death by his
parents and a brother, George Tucker.
Allen grew up on a farm in Dannebrog,
graduating from the Dannebrog High School in
1943 and from the School of Business in 1947. In 1945, Allen
entered the United States Army, was honorably discharged and spent
three years in the Army reserves.
Allen was united in marriage to Bernice
Tagge on July 2, 1950 in Grand Island at St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church. Together they celebrated
59and1/2 years of love with many joys.
He was employed as an accountant
with the Frank McNett Architectural Firm and Chief Industries. Allen
was also a co-owner of the Suzuki Sportscraft Motorcycle dealership. He
retired in 1988.
Allen was a very active member of
the Calvary Lutheran Church, the Platt-Deutsche and American
Legion.
A loving and kind husband, father,
grandfather and friend; Allen loved his family and God. He
enjoyed yard work, woodworking, rock polishing, golfing, bowling,
remodeling their homes, traveling and card playing. Allen liked
to dance, enjoyed Polka music and loved to visit.
Memorials are suggested to Calvary Lutheran Church, Grand Island Food Pantry or Donor’s
Choice.
