Delores
(Krumel) Buhrman, 90 formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, August 17,
2011 at the Friendship Villa in Spalding, NE.
Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Grand
Island. Her son the Reverend Donald Buhrman will celebrate the
Mass with Bishop William J. Dendinger and the Priests of the Grand Island
Diocese concelebrating. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park
Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday with a Christian Wake Service
beginning at 6 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel, 2929 South Locust,
Grand Island.
Delores was born, as a twin, on a farm south of Fremont, NE in Saunders
County on January 15, 1921 to Matthias and Mary (Shanahan) Krumel.
She is survived by two daughters and three sons, Mary and Steve Luebbe
of Holdrege, John and Linda Buhrman of Arvada, CO, Virginia (Ginger)
and Bill Nowak of Festus, MO, Father Don Buhrman of Spalding and Jim
Buhrman of Omaha.
Also left to cherish her memory are nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren
and one great great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband in 2006; her parents; four
brothers; two sisters and granddaughter, Sheryl Nowak.
Delores attended rural school in Saunders County and moved to Grand
Island in 1941. She graduated from Grand Island Beauty School. She
was part owner in the Orchid Beauty Shop from 1946-1949. Delores
married Bob Buhrman on April 24, 1948 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in
Grand Island. She worked at the Cornhusker Ammunition Plant during
the Vietnam War.
Delores enjoyed traveling, playing cards and playing the organ.
