Jakob
Jean Jakob, 71 of Grand Island, died unexpectedly Thursday, January
6, 2011 at the Nebraska Heart Institute in Lincoln.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand
Island, 12 th and Wheeler Streets. The Reverend Jack Gillam and
Vicar James Fickenscher will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand
Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home
in Grand Island.
Mrs. Jakob was born in Holdrege, NE the daughter of Fred and Nona (Gentry)
Johnston.
Survivors include her husband, David; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri
and Mike Kopy of Parkville, MO and Jodi and Mark Hayward of Parkville,
MO and brother and sister-in-law, Raye and Betty Johnston of Loomis,
NE.
Those also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Brian
and Angela Kopy, Katie Kopy and her fiancé Willie O’Quinn,
Nathan Hayward, Mallory Hayward and Ariana Hayward; her mother-in-law,
Norma Jakob of Grand Island and brother-in-law and his wife, Dennis (Jake)
and Jan Jakob of Grand Island.
She was welcomed into heaven by her parents; brothers, Neil and Lyle
Johnston and sisters, Lois Martin and Faye Maaske.
Jean graduated from Loomis High School. She married Everett Fahm. Later
she was united in marriage to David Jakob on April 20, 1980. She
made her home in Grand Island where she worked for St. Francis Medical
Center. She then worked for the Grand Island Clinic where she worked
for 30 years before her retirement.
She is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Jean enjoyed her
family, especially her time spent with grandchildren. Her memory
will be cherished by many.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or St. Jude’s
Children’s Hospital.
