Lee 'Tony' Paustian
Jerry Lee ‘Tony’ Paustian, 72, of Grand Island, died
Monday, December 12, 2011, at Grand Island Veterans Medical Center.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, at
Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Jack Gillam and Vicar Bart Rall
will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at All
Faiths Funeral Home.
Tony was born January 22, 1939, in Grand Island, the son of John and
Olga (Rohweder) Paustian.
The left to cherish his memory include his wife, Marilyn; son, Brian
Paustian of Grand Island; daughters and sons-in-law, Jill and Monte Dahlke
of Columbus, Julie Mihm of Omaha and Joyce and Jake Magninie of Lincoln.
He is also survived by five grandchildren, Dylan and Amanda Paustian
and Mason, Heath and Hannah Dahlke.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gladys Paustian; brothers,
Kenneth Paustian and Donald ‘Butch’ Paustian; and twin grandsons,
Nathan and Wyatt Dahlke.
Tony grew up in Grand Island, graduating with the class of 1957. He
immediately enlisted in the United States Army in May of 1957 and was
honorably discharged in April of 1960. Upon his discharge, he went
to work for the Union Pacific Railroad, and was in their employ for 39
years.
Tony was united in marriage to Marilyn Lessig on August 21, 1971 in
Grand Island, at Trinity Lutheran Church.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Missouri
Synod. He was also a member of the Liederkranz, Platt Duetsche,
Stuhr Museum, and Union Pacific Old Timers Club. Tony’s enjoyments
included sports, the horse races and playing cards. After retiring,
he also enjoyed baking and gardening. Above all, he enjoyed his
children and later, spoiling his grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to Heartland Lutheran High School.
