'Tiny' Keith Barnes
Earl ‘Tiny’ Keith Barnes, 93, of Grand Island died Monday,
January 30, 2012 at his home.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, at All Faiths funeral Home.
There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the
service.
Mr. Barnes was born August 17, 1918, at Doniphan, Nebraska, the son
of Guy Barnes and Gertrude (Gorin) Barnes.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter and her husband,
Bonnie and Rick Mullen of Grand Island; three grandchildren and their
spouses, Latosha and Keith of Grand Island, Kaleena and Brian of Omahaand
Tayler Mullen of Grand Island; and six great grandchildren, Aniya, Jordan,
Micah, Madalyn, Malaiya and Maycee.
He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Jean (Ellis)
Barnes, his parents; one sister; five brothers; and a special friend
Geraldine Billington.
Earl grew up in Doniphan. He graduated from Doniphan High School and
soon after joined the Army. He served during World War II from February
of 1941 to September of 1945.
He married Jean Ellis on November, 20 1946 and they made their home
in Grand Island.
Earl enjoyed various employment before becoming the owner and operator
of Barnes Construction in Grand Island with his brothers.
Earl enjoyed playing pool and was part of the Nathan Detroit’s
old timer’s pool club. He was also an avid Husker fan, gardener,
bowler, horse shoe player and fisherman. He enjoyed the fishing trips
he took to Canada and his cabin on Lake McConaughy.
Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
