Katherine
E. Johnson
Katherine E. Johnson, 93, of Grand Island, died Thursday, March 22,
2012, at Tiffany Square.
The
Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 24 at St. Pauls Lutheran
Church. The Reverend Bill Pavuk will officiate. Burial will be in the
Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m.
at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island, NE.
Katherine was born on January 31, 1919 at Omaha, NE, the daughter of
Frank and Helen (Stevenson) Frahm. Her mother was married to Edward Schumacher
in 1922. At that time they moved to Chicago, IL, later returning to Council
Bluffs, IA in 1929.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Susan and her husband,
Ed Richards and Diane Johnson all of Grand Island.
Those also left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren, Mindy
and her husband, John Troshynski of Omaha, and Barry Richards of Omaha;
and four great grand children, Ben and Kylie Katherine Troshynski and
Braxtyn and Camdyn Richards and their mother Shawna Richards.
She was welcomed into heaven by her parents.
Katherine was raised in Council Bluffs and graduated from Abraham Lincoln
High School in 1937. After graduation she worked for Council Bluffs Mutual
Building and Loan for 17 years. Katherine Schumacher and Albert W. Johnson
were married September 14, 1940 at Council Bluffs, IA. While raising
her family she worked part time at various companies until moving to
Grand Island in 1959. In 1963 she started working at Home Federal Savings
and Loan as a teller. She retired in 1984 as Savings Supervisor and Assistant
Vice President. After retiring she worked part time in the office at
Chrysalis Lutheran Homes from 2002 until 2007.
She enjoyed bowling, fishing and watching cooking channels. She especially
loved spending time with her family.
She is a member of the St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Rebecca Circle, the
Liederkranz, and the Order of Eastern Star for 73 years.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Pauls Lutheran Church or the Central
Nebraska Humane Society.
