Doris C. (Muhs) Korn, 84, of Riverside, California, formerly of Grand Island, died Monday, November 14, 2011 at Community Care and Rehab. Center in California, of complications from a broken femur.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. January 13, 2012, in All Faiths
Funeral Home Chapel, 2929 So. Locust. St. in G.I. Lonna Grabenstein,
PMA will officiate.
Burial of the ashes will be at Grand Island Cemetery after the service.
Doris was born April 26, 1927 in rural Hall County, the daughter of Herman and Hilda (Reher) Muhs. She was raised on a farm in the Abbott area and attended School District 37 and 54. She was united in marriage to Henry Schwartz Jan. 4th, 1944. They had 4 children together. They divorced in 1970. She was united in marriage to Thomas Korn Dec. 24th, 1970 which ended in divorce Sept. 12th, 2011.
Doris was head housekeeper at the Erin Rancho for 15 years in Grand Island. She and her husband moved to Las Vegas to be close to her sons in August of 1989.
She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing her video poker machine and walking. They moved to Mesa, AZ. September of 2002 to be close to his family, due to macular degeneration.
She moved up to Riverside, CA in May 2009 into her own apartment.
September 2009 she fell and broke her femur and was placed in the Rehab center after surgery to repair the bone.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Schwartz of Riverside, CA; sister-in-law, Dolores Muhs of Grand Island; nephews, David Muhs of Mt. Pleasant, IA and Doug Muhs of Grand Island; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Muhs; sons
Geo and Jack; and a daughter La Donna.
