Evelyn R. Miller, 89 of Grand Island, died Thursday, May 29, 2012 at Saint Francis Medical Center.
Services will be Saturday, June 2 at 3 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home
Chapel. The Reverend Bob Rhodes will officiate. Cremation has been chosen
as per her wishes.
Evelyn was born June 17, 1922 at Curtis, NE to Charles D. and Jesse J. (Miller) Linnemeyer.
Survivors are her husband of 53 years, Jack; her children and their spouses, Randy K. and Connie Nicholson of Las Vegas, NV, Jack L. and Lynne Miller of Placerville, CA, and Christine Marie Camp of Placerville, CA; a sister, Marjorie Nelsen and her husband Harv of Apache Junction, AZ; 4 grand children and 5 great grand children; numerous nieces and nephews; a God Daughter, Joanna and good friends, Tom and Myra Oshlo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Tim Nicholson, two sisters, Eleanor and Naomi and a son in law Bernard Camp.
Evelyn was raised and received her education at Curtis. She was united in marriage to Tim Nicholson in 1939. Tim passed on December 25, 1953. Following the death of her first husband, she continued to operate their grocery store in Palisade. She later married Jack L. Miller on October 26, 1958. She worked at KODY radio in North Platte and Brown Fruit Company for many years and then for KMMJ radio for 14 years.
She enjoyed muzzle loading, camping and fishing with her husband Jack. She was also an avid Lapidary worker and enjoyed silver work and making ceramics. Evelyn will always be remembered for her great turkey plucking abilities.
