Imogene L. Nearhood, 90 of Grand Island, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center.
Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Westlawn Memorial
Park Cemetery. The Reverend Matthew Fowler will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mrs. Nearhood was born February 27, 1922 at Grand Island the daughter of William and Genevieve (Linder) Pracht.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dean; son, Brian; infant son, Harold Dean; brothers, Bill, Ethan and Cecil and sister, Mary.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Neal and Sherry Nearhood of Chapman; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jerry Studnicka of Loup City; and daughter-in-law, Grace Nearhood of Wood River and sister, Geraldine Snell of Central City.
Imogene graduated from Grand Island Senior High, class of 1940. She worked at Bills Trading Post and Ehlers Grocery Store. On December 13, 1942 she was united in marriage to Dean H. Nearhood. The couple made their home in Grand Island where Imogene worked at Nash Finch and Jack and Jill Stores where she retired after 21 years of service in 1984.
Imogene made many friends with her smile and kind ways. She enjoyed her visits with friends and family. She is a member of Faith United Methodist Church. Imogene also enjoyed crafts, fishing and gardening.
