Lopez Olivo
Dario Lopez Olivo, 80, of Grand Island, died Monday, April 16, 2012,
at the Grand Island Veterans Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 20 at St.
Mary’s Cathedral. The Reverend Richard Piontkowski will officiate.
Burial will be in the Nebraska Veterans Memorial Cemetery with full military
honors. Visitation will be Thursday from 3 to 4 p.m., with a Rosary at
4 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Dario was born on December 19, 1931 at Robstown, TX, the son of John
Garcia and Elena Lopez (Trejo) Olivo.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters and their spouses,
Mary and Ron Garcia of Wood River and Sandy and Rocky Rush of St. Paul;
and brothers and their spouses, John and Carol Olivo of Grand Island,
Rudy and Sharon Olivo of Evans, CO, Ruben Olivo of Grand Island and Alfredo
Olivo of Las Vegas.
Those also left to cherish his memory are numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Parents; a sister, Concepcion Ostos;
and a brother, Oscar Olivo.
Dario grew up in Texas with his family and moved to Omaha in the late
40’s. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War and
served from 1952 to 1954. After his military service, Dario worked for
the Union Pacific Railroad.
He enjoyed doing crosswords and spending time watching the horse races.
Memorials are suggested to the Grand Island Veterans Home.
