Mary G. Strong Ramirez
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The Reverend Jonathan Sorensen will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Thursday with a rosary beginning at 5 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mary was born August 28, 1947 at Del Rio, Texas the daughter of Manuel and Dominga (Valdez) Ramirez.
Survivors are her children and their spouses, Kathy and Erasmo Chavez, Teresa and Martin Estrada, Rosie Gonzalez, Alfredo Ramirez; daughter-in-law, Melissa DeLeon; brother, Joe Ramirez all of Grand Island; sisters, Rosa Wing of Grand Island and Estella Mendez of Hastings.
Other survivors are 17 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including her close nephew, Joe Ramirez.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Jimmy Ramirez; her parents; six brothers and sisters and four nephews.
Mary lived most of her adult life in the Grand Island area. She enjoyed cooking Mexican food. She was always there to help her family. Mary was very caring and loving; always having an open door and open heart.
