Neal Sahling
Neal Sahling 52 of Prosser, Nebraska died Monday, April 24th as a result of a car accident in Hastings.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church at rural Juniata, NE. The Reverend Greg Volzke will officiate. Burial will be in the Kenesaw Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home, 2929 South Locust Street, Grand Island.
He was born July 1, 1959 in Hastings, NE to Donna and LaMonte Sahling. He grew up on the family farm south of Wood River. Farming was his first love and he was never afraid of hard work or long hours. He graduated from Wood River High in 1977 and went on to Central Community College in Hastings and became a licensed electrician. He was in the seed corn industry for over 25 years. For the last 12 years he was a district sales manager for Channel Bio.
Neal enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles his entire life. He enjoyed many great trips with family and friends. One of his favorites was “The Ride Around Nebraska” with Bill Lawry, Sr.
Neal lived his life clean and sober for the last 23 years. He had many friends and supporters in the program.
He was a 10 year veteran of the Wood River Volunteer Fire Department. He valued his contribution to the community and always strived to give more. He was the Safety Officer, an EMT, CPR instructor and graduated from the National Safety Officer Program. He completed his Firefighter 1 certification and was also Wildland Red Card certified. He always wanted to do his best in whatever he set out to do. He cherished the great brotherhood he had with his fellow firefighters. He was active in Christ Lutheran Church serving on different committees.
Neal enjoyed preparing meals for a crowd, large or small. Sahling Catering was a passion he shared with his wife Jackie. Neal also had recently run his first 10K in honor of their daughter Genevieve Marie. Neal was united in marriage to Jackie Hubby on February 16, 1991. They raised 3 children.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie; sons, Jeffrey Hubby & wife Kristin of Omaha and Ian Sahling of Prosser; granddaughters, Kaydence & Stella Hubby; sisters & brothers in laws: Lynn & Kim Struebing of Lincoln; Shelley & Todd Zart of Lincoln; brother and sister in law: Scott & Mary Sahling of Worms and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by their daughter, Genevieve Marie and his parents, Donna & LaMonte Sahling.
In lieu of flowers the family is suggesting memorials to the Gena Sahling Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Kenesaw Public Schools or to Christ Lutheran Schools for the new addition.
