A. 'Butch' Spidle
Glen A. ‘Butch’ Spidle, Jr., 59, of Grand Island, died
Monday, February 20, 2012 at Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, at All Faiths
Funeral Home.
Butch was born June 29, 1952 in Grand Island, the son of Glen A. and
Emma (Miller) Spidle.
Survivors include his daughter, Dierdre O’Gorman and her husband,
Ryan Korkie of Denver, Colorado; and sister, Jacque Fegter of Des Moines,
Iowa.
He is also survived by a niece, Dannell (Matt) Runge; a nephew, Jeff
(Jennifer) Fegter; two great nieces and five great nephews; and two great
great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Butch grew up and received his education in Grand Island, graduating
from Grand Island Senior High, Class of ’71.
Butch spent his entire adult life caring for and tending to the needs
of animals. He was with the Central Nebraska Humane Society when
he lived in Grand Island previously. After relocating to Des Moines,
IA, he was employed by the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Inc. (ARL),
Iowa’s largest nonprofit animal shelter, which cares for many thousands
of animals each year. Butch continued working with animals in both
Illinois and South Carolina, managing the facilities in S. Carolina until
his health began to fail. He returned to the Grand Island area
in 2002.
