Charles "Chuck" Volcek Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Charles “Chuck” Gerald Volcek, 93, of Grand Island formally of North Platte passed away on June 16, 2022 at Primrose Retirement Community in Grand Island. A visitation in Chuck’s honor will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Monday June 20, 2022, in the Sanctuary at All Faiths Funeral Home, 2929 South Locust, Grand Island. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Military honors will be rendered by North Platte Honor Guard and the U.S. Army. Chuck was born in Omaha on September, 20, 1928 son of Charles and Esther (Sterkel) Volcek. Chuck entered the United States Army on December 1, 1950 serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on August 30, 1952. On October 18, 1952 he was united in marriage to Antonette “Toni” Sklenicka. Together they made their home in Omaha, then later moved to North Platte where Chuck was employed at the Union Pacific Rail Road. Chuck was a member of the Presbyterian Church in North Platte, VFW, and the Union Pacific Oldtimers Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling. He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Toni Volcek of Grand Island; children, Linda Volcek of Kernersville, NC; Chip (Christine) Volcek of Crete; Laura Volcek of Grand Island; Luanne (Mark) Fhuere of Grand Island; Joe (Denise) Volcek of North Platte. 4 grandchildren, Adam (Katie) Volcek, Kristi (Dave) Rippe; Colleen (Moe) Dixon, Brooke (Shawn) Simpson; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Sharon Madden. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold Volcek, and John Volcek; sisters, Donna Bruno, and Shirley Balaban.
