David Rathman

June 10, 1962 - April 28, 2022

David Lee Rathman, 60, of Omaha passed away on April 28, 2022 in Omaha. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 8th, from 4pm to 7pm at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island, followed by Rosary Service at 7pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 9th at 10:30am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Doniphan. Interment will follow at Cedar View Cemetery in Doniphan. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to Rathman Children Education Fund. David was born on June 10, 1962 and was raised on a farm in Doniphan, Nebraska. He graduated from Doniphan High School, where he played baseball and football. He raised cattle and sheep with the 4H, for show at the Nebraska State Fair, winning many blue ribbons and grand champion sheep. Dave used to tell the story of how he and his friend Danny Shaffer were jumping in a pile of leaves, when Dave broke his leg, so Danny pulled him in a wagon and left him at the front door so he didn’t have to feel the “rath” of Momma Rathman. He met his lifelong buddies, Jim O’Brian and Phil Weaver when he attended Kearney State. Moved with Ed Badberg to work in Indiana, before he moved to Omaha in 1993, where he met his wife, Teri. They were married and had three children, and recently he was blessed with two beautiful grandsons. He worked for Meyland Enterprise for seventeen years, where he cleaned and maintained power plants with ‘high pressure water and dynamite’. He drove to sites all across America, Canada, and Mexico. Dave loved driving aimlessly around the backroads, listening to country music on the radio. He loved cooking and his favorite meal was Shake N Bake pork chops, grandma’s corn, and potatoes, all smothered in Dorothy Lynch. He loved taking his dogs, Pepper and Toby, to Standing Bear Lake to ‘run their guts out,’ watching Pretty Woman and Dances With Wolves, having beers with his buddies, and sitting by the river shooting his guns. He was a simple man with a heart of gold. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Lawrence and Grace Kroeger of Doniphan, Nebraska and Walt and Norma Rathman of Hanson, Nebraska; and father, Donald Rathman of Doniphan, Nebraska. Survived by wife, Teri Rathman, children: Michael, Karli and Grace Rathman, and grandsons, Henry and David Rathman, all of Omaha; mother, Laveda Rathman of Doniphan; sister, Darla Rathman Treacy of Springfield, Missouri; many nephews and nieces.
