Delores Lorraine Omel, 85, of Grand Island, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at The Heritage at Sagewood. Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Delores was born on January 8, 1937, in Palmer, the daughter of Alfred and Evangeline (Schwarz) Meyer. She grew up in Palmer and graduated from Palmer. She had a strong faith in God and placed a high value on honesty and truthfulness. On March 4, 1956, Delores married Marion Omel at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer. This union was blessed with two daughters, Cynthia and Lisa. Delores worked on the farm alongside her husband. She also worked at Dresbach’s, Miller and Paine and Dillard’s. She was recognized in the 1966 edition of “Outstanding Young Women of America”. Delores loved to travel with her husband, her sister and her brother-in-law. Together they drove thousands of miles, traveled to 48 states and went on five cruises. When they headed out on a Sunday drive, you never knew where they would end up. Those who cherish Delores’ memory include her husband of 66 years, Marion; daughters, Cynthia Omel of Grand Island and Lisa Omel of Geno, NE; grandchildren, Amanda Kanareff, Heath (Lesley) Rowbal, Hank (Angie) Rowbal, Andrea (Justin) Davis, and Nathan Omel; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by brothers, Dennis Meyer (Sandy Jacobs) of Central City, and Paul (Peggy) Meyer of Grand Island; brothers-in-law, Clarence Hiegel of Grand Island and Howard Hurley of Everett, WA; sister-in-law, Pat Omel of Las Vegas, NV; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, LeRoy Meyer; sister, Charlene Hiegel; brothers-in-law, Leal Omel, Fosten “Toot” Omel, Myron Omel, Gerald “Jerry” Omel, Warren “Bud” Omel, and Paul Helton; and sisters-in-law, Liva Omel, Evelyn Helton, Verna Helton; Donna Hurley, Velma Omel, Martha Omel, Lucille Omel, Judy Meyer and Margaret Meyer.
