Dix B. Wagner

September 12, 1935 - November 5, 2021

Dix B. Wagner, 86 years old, of Grand Island, NE passed away Friday, November 5, 2021. To honor his wishes, a private family graveside service will be held in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Mr. Wagner was born on September 12, 1935 in Grand Island, the son of Philip and Mary (Barbee) Wagner. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High class of 1953. On August 18, 1955, he was united in marriage to Jean Shanks. Dix was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad as a switchman-brakeman, and served a number of years as a union griever with the railroad. He worked and lived in Omaha from 1956 until moving back to Grand Island in 1971. He retired from the railroad after 38 years of service. He was active with the Isaak Walton League and the Hunter Safety Program. Dix and Jean were active with the railroad Old Timers Club and displayed a railroad theme Christmas Tree at Stuhr Museum’s annual tree display for 29 years. They also traveled frequently across the U.S. He also did numerous home improvement projects. He enjoyed being outside and taking walks with his dog “Peaches”, and spending time with his great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Leo. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Lee (Susan) Wagner of Grand Island and grandchildren, Geri (Jesse) Kaufman and Hollen (Dustin) Thibeault and great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Leo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean in 2012, a son, Danny Wagner, a daughter, Kimberly, his parents, a brother, Phil, and a sister, Derry Sue.
