Earl R. Knuth

November 11, 1948 - November 29, 2014

Earl R. Knuth, 66 of Grand Island died Saturday, November 29, 2014 with his loving family at his side.
Celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Reverend Bill Pavuk and Chaplain Mark Hartley will officiate. Cremation will take place following the service. Private family burial of ashes will take place in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mr. Knuth was born November 11, 1948 at Grand Island the son of Raymond H. and Viola E.A. (Rauert) Knuth.
Survivors of the immediate family are his wife, Delyce; sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Pam Knuth of Grand Island, Jeremy and Carrie Knuth of Louisburg, KS and Nathan and Jaci Knuth of Cairo; sister and brother-in-law, Leona and Bob Priess of Grand Island and grandchildren, Grace, William, Abigail, Carlie, Madelyn, Brady, Kendal, Claire and Kalli.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents.
He was raised on a family farm near Cairo attending School District 54 and graduated from Grand Island Northwest High School, class of 1967. He received a Diesel Mechanic Degree from Hastings Central Community College.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Delyce Luft on June 27, 1970. They lived in Grand Island before moving to the family farm near Cairo. In 2002 they moved to Kansas City, later to Indianola, IA in 2012 and back to Grand Island in 2014.
He was employed with Boeka Land and Cattle, Green Line Equipment, Anderson Ford Lincoln Mercury, Machinery Link in Kansas City and Barker Implement in Indianola, IA. Earl worked as a service manager for John Deere Dealerships and was known throughout the country as the “Combine Doctor”. Earl enjoyed collecting antique tractors and farm equipment and toy tractors. He loved time spent with family especially the grandkids.
Memberships included the Platt Duetsche, American Society of Farm Equipment Appraisers; International Society of Livestock Appraisers; Platte Valley Baby Beef 4H; Northwest FFA; Ag Institute of Nebraska/Husker Harvest Days; Northwest Education Foundation; Cairo Rural Fire District Board; National Northwest FFA Alumni; Central Nebraska Antique Tractor and Equipment Club and National Agriculture Hall of Fame-KC.
A memorial fund will be established in memory of Earl.
