Marcella Dean Williams, 93, of Grand Island passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Tiffany Square Care Center. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, 2400 W. 14th Street in Grand Island with visitation and hour prior. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Marcella was born on September 19, 1928 at Burwell, NE, daughter of John E. and Ida (Erington) Steffan. She was an only child. Marcella lived in Burwell until 1943 then she and her mother moved to Grand Island. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1946. On July 5, 1949 she was united in marriage to Richard G. Williams in Grand Island at First Christian Church. They lived in Grand Island their entire married life and celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 1999. They were blessed with two sons, Monty and Garry. After her marriage she worked for Sears, Hested and Hall County Clerk of the District Court. Marcella was a very active member of her church. She was baptized on August 22, 1943 in the Loup River at Burwell. She served as Sunday School Superintendent, Member of the Administrative Board, an Elder, Diaconate, Church Historian, Co-President of the Ladies CWF, Circle Leader and Chairman of the Annual Bazaar for 31 years. Her Church and Church family were very important and loving part of her life. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #41. She was Worthy Matron in 1976 and the State of Nebraska Grand Chaplain in 1993. Also, she held several state offices through the years. She was a past member of the Platt Duetsch Ladies Society, Saddle Club and life member of the NE PTA. She was a Reading Buddy at Howard School for 1st Graders. Marcella always felt so blessed with her family. She loved spending time with them. In her later years her Great Grandchildren were adored by her. She loved telling her friends about them. Survivor of the immediate family is her daughter-in-law, Jeanne (McDonald) Williams. Those also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren and their spouses, Tyler (Laura) Williams, Amber (B.J.) O’Hara and Jared (Tana) Williams and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard in 2003, her sons, Monty in 1967 and Garry in 2015.
