Richard "Dick" Green Sr.

July 8, 1930 - January 30, 2022

Richard “Dick” Green Sr., 91 of Grand Island died Sunday, January 30, 2022. Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 PM Saturday February 5th at All Faiths Funeral Home. Entombment of ashes will be in the Trinity United Methodist Church columbarium. Military honors will be rendered by the United Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to The Red Cross or Crossroads Mission Avenue. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Richard was born July 8, 1930 in St. Edward, NE the son of Everett and Anne (Case) Green. He graduated from St. Edward High School class of 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy where he received his education in the radio/communication field. Richard was united in marriage to Norma Jean Cook in 1954 at the Methodist Church in Palmer, NE. They made their home in North Platte, NE. They adopted three children, Barbara, Richard Jr. and Margaret Anne. Richard worked in North Platte for AT&T until 1990, moving to Grand Island where he worked for Telephone Systems of Nebraska. He enjoyed his employment, working in the yard, movies, time spent with children and grandchildren, and helping others in need. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Norma Jean; daughters, Barbara Handeland of Grand Island and Margaret Gunnerson (fiancé Wesley Wiley) of Holdrege; grandchildren, Jennifer Green (husband Peter Bate) of Kearney, NE, Deanna Gunnerson (husband Bryan Martinez) of Kearney, NE, Devin Gunnerson of Holdrege and Zachary Baker of Leavenworth Kansas; many loved in-laws, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Anne, a brother, Marvin (“Pete”) and son, Richard (“Rick”) Green Jr.
