Richard E. Kraft, 76, of Grand Island, died on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial service and celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Daniel Naranjo will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in Grand Island City Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and Grand Island Honor Guard. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Richard was born in Greeley County, NE, on April 10, 1945, the son of Phillip and Grace (Fisher) Kraft. His early childhood started on the farm. The family eventually settled in Grand Island, where he received his education. Although Richard proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, he was fortunate in not having to go overseas due to having a family and not enough time left in his enlistment. While married to Judy Smith, they had four children, Rick, Randy, Greg and Tammy. He was united in marriage to Mary Price on January 24, 2004. With this union he gained two stepdaughters, Crystal (Chris) Johnson and their family and Jeni (Ore) Thompson and their family. Richard loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and retelling stories of their times spent boating, fishing and hunting. He later spent many happy hours tinkering with antique cars and made many friends through car clubs and car shows. He was most proud of his Corvette and was happy to pass it on to his son. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children and their spouses, Rick (Traci) Kraft, Randy (Sandra) Kraft, Tammy (Allen) Wilshusen and Dara Singletary; grandchildren, Brodie (Teri) Kraft, Jessica (Jason) Herrold, Trevor Kraft (Paige Bishop), Kyle Kraft, Heather Archer, Andrew Wilshusen, Hailey Wilshusen, and Jacobi Bumgardner; and great-grandchildren, Lexie Kraft, Gavin and Sawyer Herrold, Jaxon Kraft, Sterling and Maverick Archer, and Skylar and Sienna Singletary. He is also survived by sisters, Marie Pope and Linda (Ed) O’Neill; and brother, Phil (Lorraine) Kraft; and sister-in-law, Shirley Kraft. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Greg Kraft; adopted son, Rob Singletary; brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy and Rita Kraft; brother, Harvey Kraft; brother-in-law, Norman Pope and sister-in-law, Evelyn Kraft. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
