Walter D. Boyll, 83, of Grand Island passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Madonna Hospital in Lincoln. To honor his wishes, cremation was chosen and no services will be held. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Walt was born on October 15, 1938 in Grand Island, son of Arthur and Ruby (Brown) Boyll. Grand Island was always home for Walt, he left often, but always found his way home. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School with the class of 1956. He left for Kearney to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Kearney State College. He was united in marriage to Patricia “Patty” Shields on March 25, 1959 in Kearney. While raising their 6 children, the couple made their home in Kearney, Omaha and North Platte before returning to Grand Island. With his background in teaching and business degree, Walt spent over 20 years teaching accounting to many young adults. He was involved in the Baptist church, Worldwide Church of God, Restoration Worship Center, and others. Wherever he found a home, he soon found his church home as well. Walt was an avid learner. If there wasn’t a Husker game on, he was conducting his theological research or playing sudoku. His favorite things overall were keeping in touch with his large family and telling stories of days gone by. Survivors include children: Deanna Brant (Terry) of Wheatland, WY, Denise Zerr of Lincoln, NE, David Boyll (Debbie) of Littleton, CO, Doug Boyll of Grand Island, NE, John Boyll (Cheryl) of Anahuac, TX, Jana Thompson (Dusty) of Grand Island, NE; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren; brother, William (Mary Lou) Boyll of Seward, NE; sisters, Linda Boyll of Wheatland, WY, and Sandra Rodewald of Grand Island, NE. Walt was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patty; brother-in-law Garry Rodewald, and son-in-law, Tim Zerr.
