Yvonne L. Johnston Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Yvonne L. Johnston, 65, of Grand Island, passed away June 20, 2022 at CHI- Health St. Francis. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, June 24th at 11:30 am at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Yvonne was born on September 20, 1956, in Grand Island, to Robert and Myrna (Rakestraw) Slattery. She remained a life long resident of Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Central Catholic High School in 1974, then from Central Community College, where she earned an Associates Degree in Data Processing. In March of 1982, Yvonne started working for the City of Grand Island as a computer programmer and she remained there until her retirement in August of 2021. On February 12, 1987, Yvonne was united in marriage to Michael Johnston. Three children were blessed into this union, Lindy, Michaela, and Michelle. Yvonne was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, shopping, and spending time with her family. For those who knew our glittering angel, you knew her laugh. That laugh that could equal parts alarm you and make you laugh all at the same time. To know her was to love her. Her sense of humor and generous heart were unmatched. Loved ones she left behind can’t wait to see her again for our next shopping trip. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Mike; children, Lindy Slattery, Michaela (Brittany) Johnston; Michelle (Alex Stobbe) Johnston; grandchildren, Connor Boord, Maximus Morrow, Hailey Morrow, and Timothy Charon. Other survivors include her brothers, Dan (Mary) Slattery, Tim (Patty) Slattery; sisters, Jody Benson, Betti (Noboru) Nakajima, Peggy (Frank) Sinkule, Mary (Sam) Sassen; close friends, the Summer sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; and nephew, Eric Benson. Memorials may be made out to her husband for later designation.
