Alberta Ruth Brym

Alberta Ruth Brym, 92, of Grand Island, passed away on September 3, 2026, at The Heritage at Sagewood. Visitation will be on September 28th from 10-11am, followed by the funeral service at 11 am, at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Westlawn Cemetery. Alberta was born on March 8, 1934, in Grand Island, to Henry and Anna Margaret (Schaefer) Loebsack. She was raised in Grand Island graduating from Central High School in St. Joseph, MO in 1952. On May 31, 1954, Alberta was united in marriage to Donald Brym. Three children were born into this union. While Don was in the service, the couple briefly made their home in El Paso, TX and Karlsruhe, Germany before moving to Grand Island. Alberta worked for Overland National Bank for 34 years until her retirement. After her retirement she continued working for 14 years at Fonner Park during live racing seasons. She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral and St. Mary’s Altar Society along with the many committees she was a part of at St. Mary’s. She also volunteered at the St. Francis gift shop for over 15 years. Alberta was also a member if the red hat society. Music was very important to Alberta while she was in school. She played the violin, viola, and the piano in the Orchestra. She did accompaniment for several state contestants in music as well as doing the music for the men’s chorus at church. Alberta also enjoyed gardening and reading. She was a social butterfly, so spending time with and helping other people was her biggest passion. In her younger years she played the violin and piano. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Greg (Jeanne) Brym of Marana, AZ, Lori (Mark) Bartels of Kearney, Chris (Kerry) Dean od Lincoln; five grandchildren, Derek (Anna) Brym, Brandon Brym, Mandi (Jim) Sedlak, Kayla (Geoff) Roenfeldt, Kolton Dean; four great granddaughters, Ashton and Macy Roenfeldt, Sophie and Maddie Brym; and sister-in-law, Shirley (Don) Holmes. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Mildred Tryba. The family would like to send a special thank you for the wonderful care and compassion Alberta received at Heritage, and for the friendships she made there. Memorials are suggested to the family, Crohn’s Colitis, and Breast Cancer.
