Andrew “Andy” Walden Bolin, 97 of Grand Island passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Grand Island VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, at All Faiths Funeral Home, visitation one hour prior. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Andy was born on August 9, 1927, and was the 6th child of 8 on the family farm in Cuming County west of Oakland, Nebraska to Oscar Bolin and Signe Carlson Bolin in Oakland, NE. Andy grew up in the Oakland and West Point Area and received his education from District No. 69 in rural Cuming County. He farmed on the family farm until 1950 when he enlisted in the United States Navy at Fort Omaha, Omaha, Nebraska. Andy was assigned to the Naval Air Station at Jacksonville, Florida and the ZPI Naval Squadron at Elizabeth City, North Carolina where he worked on anti-submarine warfare operations and served during the Korean War. Andrew was employed by the Railway Express Agency in Omaha, Nebraska after the war. Andy was united in marriage to Flora Scheer in June 1965 in North Platte, Nebraska, following their marriage they lived in Omaha until they moved to Grand Island in 1968. Andy was a real estate agent, and later a ticket agent for Grey Hound. He retired in 1990 and enjoyed managing the family farm in Osceola, Nebraska due to his love of the land and gardening. Andy was a history buff that was sparked by his military career and the world around him. He was gifted with a remarkable memory right up to the end of his life. Andy was a member of the Elks Club, Saddle Club, VFW, and Platt-Deutsch. Andy also had a strong foundation in his faith as a practicing Jehovah Witness. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Flora; children, Mark Bolin of Omaha, and Tiffany (Heath) Reinders; grandchildren, Adrianna Reinders and Grayson Reinders of Omaha and many nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and special friends. Andy was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Carl Bolin of Omaha, NE, Edward Bolin of Grand Island, NE, Marian Fritz of Huntington Beach, CA, Dorothy Uehling of Omaha, NE, Helen Larson of San Diego, CA, Laura Fineberg of Van Nuys, CA, and Anita Knutson of Omaha, NE.
