Benito R. Casares Jr.

Benito R. Casares Jr., 80, of Grand Island, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025, surrounded by the loving hands and voices of his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Monday, March 16th at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Military honors will be rendered by the United State Army and the United Veterans Honor Guard. The Rosary will be at 7 PM on Sunday, March 15th at All Faiths Funeral Home. Born on January 15, 1945, in Asherton, Texas, to Benito Sr. and Ofelia (Roman) Casares, he grew from a humble boy of South Texas into a man whose quiet strength and tender heart shaped every life that touched his. As a young man, he served his country in the United States Army, standing with honor and quiet courage. Later, he spent more than 30 years with Diamond Engineering. His truest craft was found in his garage, where wood shavings curled like petals around his feet and simple pieces of lumber blossomed into gifts of care—each one shaped with patience, love, and hands that knew how to turn the ordinary into something beautiful. For 57 years, Benito walked hand in hand with his beloved wife, Rosario (DeLeon) Casares. The life they built together was a tapestry of devotion—one stitched with laughter, perseverance, shared dreams, and the unspoken tenderness that only long love understands. He leaves behind his wife, Rosario; their children—Ric (Ruby) Casares, Ponchie (Michael) Wyatt, and Beau Casares—who carry his steady presence in their hearts and the lessons he taught in their souls. Seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews grew up wrapped in the warmth of his gentle smile, his soft laugh, and the way he made everyone feel like they belonged. Benito is also survived by five sisters and one brother as well as his many brothers and sister-in-laws. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Casares; his parents, Benito Sr. and Ofelia Casares and his brother, Donacio Casares—loved ones who now welcome him home. A Celebration of Life will be held later in the spring. There, family and friends will gather to share stories, hold close the memories he left behind, and honor the beautiful, quiet way he moved through the world. Benito’s legacy is not found in grand gestures, but in the countless small moments he filled with kindness. In the steady way he loved. In the gentle strength he carried. And in the lives forever changed by simply knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love he so generously shared in life.
