Bill Unzicker

William (Bill) Unzicker, age 92, formerly from Grand Island passed away on Monday, July 13, at the Residency Retirement Community in Scottsbluff, NE. Celebration of life service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Daniel Naranjo will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the United Veterans Honor Guard and Nebraska Army National Honor Guard. Bill was born May 10, 1923, in Chappell NE. He served in WWII in the 89th infantry at the young age of 18. Bill had Twin City Roofing Company in Gering in the 50's. He started insurance adjusting in Grand Island. He married Lelia (Lee) Stahlnecker Wiese on May 2, 1964. The couple enjoyed their cabin at Sherman Reservoir where they spent weekends with many friends. Bill loved to play cards at the Platte Deutsch every day, loved fishing with his son and friends in Alaska as well as Lake Michigan. Bill continued in the insurance business until he retired, then worked as a courier for Bosselman Inc. into his 80's. Lee preceded him in death on Oct 28, 2011. Bill moved to the The Residency Retirement Home in Scottsbluff in October, 2013. Left to cherish his memory are: his son Bob Unzicker and wife Royann from Gering, a daughters Glenda Unzicker and special friend Michael Coughlin from Phoenix, AZ. Three stepdaughters Judy Tibbs and husband Lyle, Jan Bosselman and Lana Lofgreen from Grand Island NE. and a son-in-law, Dave Lofgreen also from Grand Island. Bill's grandchildren are Troy and Susan Unzicker from Alliance NE. Travis and Rebecca Unzicker from Omaha NE., Tera and Dan Fassero from Lewisburg PA. and Tameka Unzicker from Gering NE. Jackie Bartu and husband John, John Bixenmann and wife Brenda, Charlie Bosselman and wife Laurie, Brandi Bosselman Lofing and husband Dustin, Dan Lofgreen and wife Elvira from Santa Maria CA., Tiffany Lofgreen from Grand Island, Amanda Lofgreen and husband Jon Nielsen from Evanston, IL, Kurt Tibbs and wife Chris, Gwyn Morris and husband Jamie all from Omaha, NE, and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lee, a grandson, Terry Boom, from Phoenix, a great granddaughter Amber Weitzel from Grand Island, NE, and son-law Chuck Bosselman also from Grand Island NE, as well as his parents and brother and sisters.
