Catharine Ann (Cathy) Telford December 31, 1951-August 14, 2016 Catharine (Cathy) Telford died peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2016 as a result of pancreatic cancer. Cathy requested cremation and no formal service. The family will hold an informal gathering of friendship and celebration of her life on Saturday, August 20th at 2 p.m. at the New Life Community Church, 301 W 2nd Street in Grand Island. She would want you to dress casually and her family would be honored to hear how you knew Cathy and or a special memory. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Highland Park Cemetery at Ravenna. All Faiths Funeral home is serving the family. Catharine was born December 31, 1951 in Loup City, Nebraska to Harve H. and Irene F. (Graff) Telford. She grew up on a farm in Sherman County where she developed a love for all the animals on the farm. That love continued with her long time canine friends, especially Benji and her last companion, Casey, who is patiently watching for Cathy to come home. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and tending her flowering houseplants. Cathy attended a one room country school in Sherman County before attending and graduating from Ravenna High School in 1970. She was a 33-year employee of McCain Foods, USA in Grand Island. Cathy was a member of the New Life Community Church in Grand Island where she was a “Prayer Warrior”. Cathy is survived by her sister, Esther (DeLynn) Hay of Waverly, nieces and nephews and other relatives, as well as many friends and co-workers. She was affectionately known as Aunt Cat by her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Dollie, and brother, Warren. To honor Cathy’s life a memorial contribution may be made to Ascera Hospice Care, Good Samaritan Society – Grand Island Village, GRACE (Grand Island Area Cancer Endowment) Foundation, Start Over Rover, the American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer Research, New Life Community Church or a charity of your choice. The family thanks Ascera Care and Good Samaritan Care Center for their special care during Cathy’s final days on earth.
