Cathy Larson

Catherine was born on December 21, 1955, in Angola, Indiana to Robert Lewis Glaser and Patricia Ann Snodgrass Glaser. As one of 13 children in a lively and loving family, her early years were shaped by the adventures of military life. During her father's 15-year military career, the family lived in several locations, including Littleton, where Catherine attended Catholic grade school until the age of seven. The family later returned to the Glaser family farm near Spalding, where Cathy spent her formative years. She attended District 14 Country School from second through eighth grade and was deeply rooted in her Catholic faith from an early age. She received her First Holy Communion at St. Michael's Catholic Church and was later confirmed through St. Michael's Catholic Church and Spalding Academy. Cathy graduated from Spalding Academy with the Class of 1974. Following high school, Cathy attended Central Community College in Kearney, earning her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree in 1975. During this important chapter of her life, she met the love of her life, David Lee Larson. The two were united in Holy Matrimony on August 5, 1978, at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Together, Cathy and David built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and service. They welcomed two beloved children, Ashley Elizabeth Larson and Adam David Larson, and later found immense joy in becoming grandparents to Andrew David Larson, Emilee Catherine Larson, and Liam Patrick Larson. Cathy dedicated her professional life to caring for others. She served as a staff nurse at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Grand Island, where she compassionately cared for veterans until 1990. She then stepped away from nursing for two years to devote time to raising her children while pursuing coursework in business management, preparing to help oversee the family's growing enterprises. She later accepted a position as laboratory manager for the Midwest Dermatology satellite office in Grand Island, where she spent 15 years helping the practice expand and thrive. An entrepreneur at heart, Cathy worked side by side with David to establish and grow several successful local businesses. Together they built Larson Construction, earning a reputation throughout the Grand Island area for quality craftsmanship and well-built homes over more than four decades. They also founded Larson Property Management, acquiring, renovating, and constructing numerous apartment properties, creating a business that continues to flourish. Above all, Cathy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her enduring partnership with David, her dedication to her family, and the quiet determination with which she approached every aspect of her life. Whether caring for patients, supporting her community, or helping build businesses from the ground up, she brought compassion, integrity, and perseverance to all she did. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lewis Glaser and Patricia Ann Snodgrass Glaser, nieces, Katelyn Larson and Nicole Long and nephew, Joseph Johnson. She is survived by her devoted husband, David Lee Larson; her children, Ashley Elizabeth Larson and Adam David Larson; her cherished grandchildren, Andrew David Larson, Emilee Catherine Larson, and Liam Patrick Larson; and her twelve siblings: Gary (Linda), David (Shirley), Paul (Ginger), Audrey (partner Sherry), Cyndee (Kevin), Joel (Cindy), Sharon, Janet (Mike), Shawn (Cathy), Melanie (Bob), Rachelle (Mike), and Robin (Chad). She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart. Service Information Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday with a Rosary at 7 PM at St. Leo’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 11th at St. Leo's Catholic Church. Celebrating Mass will be Msgr. Mark Huber. Burial will follow at Grand Island Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather afterward for a reception and fellowship at Riverside Golf Club to celebrate Cathy's life and the many ways she touched those around her. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her. Memorials are suggested to the family to be determined later. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
