Cynthia Sue Troester

Cynthia Sue Troester passed away on January 3rd, 2026 in Olathe Kansas, near where she had been living with and being cared for by her children. Cindy was born on September 18, 1950, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, to Madeline Blanche (Russell) and Leo Lavern Bedke. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1968 and went on to earn her degree from Concordia Teachers College in 1971. Following her graduation, Cindy pursued her passion for education, teaching in Minnesota and Michigan before eventually returning to Nebraska. She taught at Trinity Lutheran School in Grand Island and developed the preschool program at Grace Lutheran Church. In 1981, she married Dick Troester in Grand Island, Nebraska. Together they made their home in Doniphan, Nebraska, where they raised their two children, Neal and Amy. Cindy was a devoted mother and grandmother, and she cherished time spent with her grandchildren, Lincoln and Linley. Cindy found great joy in teaching and lifelong learning. After she retired from teaching, she stayed active in her church's women's groups and volunteered with her husband at Orphan Grain Train. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and a wide variety of crafts. She was an avid reader, especially of fiction. Some of her favorite shows were Star Trek and any British crime drama she could find. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Troester; her sister, Jacqueline Yung; her half-brother, Sean Bedke; her brother-in-law, Phil Troester; her parents; her parents-in-law, Gretchen and Ken Troester; as well as her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and several cousins. She is survived by her sister, Vicki (Jay) Sheer; her half-brother, Michael Shoaf Bedke; her half-sister, Darcie (Eric) Bittner; her brothers-in-law Gene (Deb) Troester; Chris (Jan) Troester; Matt (Diane) Troester; sisters-in-law Linda Troester and Anne (Dan) Daly; her children, Neal Troester and Amy Troester; her grandchildren, Lincoln Troester and Linley Troester; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and her beloved cat, Otis. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 16th at 11:30 am at Peace Lutheran Church, with Pastor Justin Bangert officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 15th from 5-7pm, also at the church. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
