Dale "Red" Whited

Dale “Red” Whited of Grand Island passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025 at CHI-Health St. Francis, at the age of 78. Gathering of friends and family will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 6 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gollaher Chapel. Rev. April Wegehaupt will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and United Veteran’s Honor Guard. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements; memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Red was born on January 4, 1947 in Spangler, Pennsylvania son of Irene Whited. He grew up near Spangler living with his grandparents, Clyde and Elizabeth Whited. He graduated from Spangler High School. He served in the U.S. Army from July 1, 1964 until May 31, 1979. He was stationed in Vietnam. He served in the U.S. Navy from February 2, 1981 until July 20, 1983 serving on the USS Merrick and the Thomas C. Hart. Following his service in the Army, Red enjoyed living in California and met many different people and loved spending time at the beach. He had a strong love for God, family, and friends, and by telling his life story, he planted seeds in everyone he met. He met the love of his life, Dorothy “Dottie” in 2006 and on May 10, 2010, they were married. Red struggled with addiction for many years, he got clean in November of 2010 and never looked back. At the age of 69, he was baptized and continued sharing his story of recovery. He loved sharing his story with family and friends, and faithfully serving his purpose. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Whited; children, James (Lila) Whited, Chris (John) Hawkins, Scott (Tara) Whited; step-children, Jeffrey Jackson and Joey Jackson; father-in-law, Robert Niedfelt; grandchildren, Blake, Paxton, Rachel and James “Bubba,” Athena, Tristan; sisters-in-law, Jeanie Sabastian, Teresa Freeman, and Bobbie Kane; brothers-in-law, William “Billy” Ogle, and Domenic Sacco; and numerous family and bonus besties, Chris Jackson, Kelly Aden, and Tanner Thompson. Red was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents; grandson, Dallas; sisters-in-law, DeeDee Johnson, and Brenda Canon; brother-in-law, Mike Sacco; and mother-in-law, Betty Niedfelt.
