David A. Sullivan

David A. Sullivan, 43 of Grand Island went to his Heavenly home Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at CHI Health St. Francis. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Father Richard Piontkowski will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday with a Parish Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home. Mr. Sullivan was born August 16, 1972 at Grand Island the son of Maurice and Beverly (Rohweder) Sullivan. Survivors include his wife, Courtney; their children, Tiara, Mackenzie, Shayla and Cedric; his father and step mother, Maurice and Marilee Sullivan of Grand Island; brother, John Sullivan of Grand Island; sisters, Cathy (Mike) Crossley of CA, Sandy Meyer of Grand Island; father and mother-in-law’s, Jack and Cindy Paulsen of St. Paul and Vaughn and Carolyn Scarborough of St. Paul; brother-in-law, CJ Scarborough (Jessica Jacobson); sisters-in-law, Heather (Loren) Pearson, Missy (Mike) Nelson, Liz (Nick) Busch; uncle, Norman (Sue) Rohweder; step brothers, Kenneth and Kevin Mathine and step sister, Debra Mathine; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly; grandparents, Howard and Mildred Sullivan and Gus and Florence Rohweder; aunts, Cheryl Sullivan and Phyllis Rohweder and uncle, Wendell Rohweder. David graduated from Grand Island Central Catholic in 1991 and Southeast Community College in 1993. He worked as an auto body man working for Grand Island Body Shop from 1995-99. He graduated from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center in 2000. He was a Police Officer for 13 years serving the Grand Island Police Department, Mitchell Police Department and the Merrick County Sheriff’s Office. Later he worked for Harley Davidson Central and was currently employed by Bosselman, Inc. On March 17, 2001 he was united in marriage to Courtney Scarborough. David was an Eagle Scout and participated in Civil War re-enacting from age 12 till the present time. He was in two movies about the Civil War, “Gods & Generals” and “Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter.” He enjoyed riding his Harley and was a member of the Nebraska Muzzle Loading Rifle Association. He loved spending time with his children and his friends were important to him. He had a smile that was contagious and that transitioned into his kids. Memorials are suggested to the family.
