Gertrude Elizabeth Wood

Gertrude Eliabeth Wood, 89 of Hastings formerly of Central City, peacefully departed this life and entered eternal life into the arms of Jesus Christ on Tuesday, 03/10/2026 at her home, surrounded by family. Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 21st at All Faiths Funeral Home. Daniel Naranjo will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in Doniphan Cedarview Cemetery. The family will be greeting friends an hour prior to service time. Memorials are suggested to the family to be determined later. Gert was born on April 5, 1936, to Walter and Elizabeth Flicker in Lodgepole, Nebraska. At 18 months of age, her family moved to North Platte, NE. She was a 1954 graduate of North Platte High School. After graduation, she was employed by the Superintendent of schools as a secretary. On February 14, 1959, she married, Robert “Dean” Wood, the love of her life after dating for just five months. She always said, “when you find Mr. Right, you’ll know”. They were married for 59 years, prior to Dean’s passing in November 2018. Gert enjoyed embroidering and took pride in her beautiful handmade quilts. She was also known and will always be remembered by the love for Pigs, anything from the real ones to stuffed, she loved them all and at one time had quite the collection. She was also a card shark, enjoying a good game of pitch whenever she could. She was also an avid Husker fan. In honor of her love for the Huskers, the family has requested that people attending the funeral wear RED and that can include Husker attire. She is survived by her six children, Lisa Jensen (Martin) of Shelton, Lori (Mike) Slater of Berthoud Colorado, Jim (Marcia) Wood of Clearwater, John (Beth) Wood of Coleridge, Jerry Wood of Boelus and Lynn Wood of Hastings. Sixteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. And her only brother, Walter (Nell) Flicker of Aberdeen MS. She was welcomed into heaven by her husband, Dean, her parents, infant sister, MaryAnne and grandson Jeremy Jensen, Mother and father-in-law, brothers-in-laws, Richard, Dale, Jim, Gary and Tom, Sisters-in-law, Joan, Janet. Gert will truly be missed by all that loved her. Her love, laughter and legacy will last forever.
