Gloria Kay Schlachter

Gloria Kay Schlachter, 78, of Grand Island, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Grand Island, with her beloved family by her side. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, September 5th at 11:11am at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Carl Eliason officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4th from 5-7pm at Peace Lutheran Church. Gloria and Bill’s urns will be laid to rest together at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Bruning, NE. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences can be left at www.giallfaiths.com. On December 3, 1967, she married William “Bill” Schlachter. Together, they were blessed with three daughters. In 1982, the family made their home in Grand Island. Gloria worked at the Bank of Doniphan in Grand Island and was a devoted member of Peace Lutheran Church. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, and the relationships she built through her church over more than four decades meant the world to her. Despite life’s challenges, her faith never faltered. She lived a life of compassion and selflessness—always putting others before herself. When her brother Roger was in need of a bone marrow transplant, she willingly donated without hesitation. Gloria enjoyed sewing, gardening, and playing games. She and Bill loved traveling and shared many memorable adventures together. A highlight for them was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with their entire family on a special cruise. Above all, Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She never missed an opportunity to support her grandchildren, cheering them on at every event and game. Her presence, love, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Gloria is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jill (Trinity) Jones of Bennington and Janeece (Jason) Chohon of Grand Island; her son-in-law, Kevin Splattstoesser; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and joy; her brother, Duane (Paula) Wyssman of Omaha; sister, Judy Wyssman of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Mike (Kathy) Schlachter of Grand Island; and sister-in-law, Vickie (Pete) Hesselgesser of Highland Village, Texas. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill; her daughter, Julie Splattstoesser; her brother, Roger Wyssman; her parents; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
