Jeffrey Allan Lewis

Jeffrey A. Lewis, 65, of St. Libory left this life and moved on to bigger and better things on Tuesday February 2, 2021 at CHI-Health St. Francis. A Gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Catholic Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Doniphan. Celebrant will be Fr. Adam Sughroue.. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. To honor Jeff’s love for his grandsons, family has requested that friends share stories and photos of Jeff . All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Jeffrey Allan Lewis was born on July 2, 1955 in Carroll, IA to Larry and Helen (Odendahl) Lewis. The oldest of five, he grew up hunting, fishing and being a generally good boy scout. His high school years were dominated by wrestling, culminating in a 4th Place finish at the South Dakota State Tournament. His trick for cutting weight was oranges, if you are looking to lose those holiday pounds. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University. While living on campus he met Carman Ronspies and they were married on May 26, 1979. They spent a few years in Denver before deciding that Nebraska wasn’t so bad. He earned his MBA at UNK. He loved the Denver Broncos, fast cars, his daughters and grandsons. He was a dedicated employee, whether at Chief Automotive Systems or at Central Community College, and always felt that he thrived under pressure. He was the only person who would complain that he needed more responsibility. During his 27 years with Chief Automotive Systems, he learned new cultures, cuisine (never ask what the meat is) and got to see and drive the newest cars. He moved on to the sales department for Presto-X and most recently the Enrollment Specialist at Central Community College. After his daughters were grown, he discovered a tolerance for horseback riding. He grew a love for his horse Curly and a wonderful group of friends. His preference was still motorcycles and classic cars. His grandsons were his favorite topic of conversation and his favorite people to spend time with. He and his grandsons shared a love of cars, including visiting museums, learning car maintenance and the perfect oil changing technique. Jeff was a lifetime boy scout and having earned his Eagle Scout and helped his grandsons with their own boy scout journey. Jeff had a quip for most situations and when things started to look grim, he would remind everyone “It is what it is.” He is survived by his wife, Carman; daughters, LeAnn Lewis (Eddie Talmadge) and Kristen (Cody) Hannon; grandsons, Colton, Carter and Caden Hannon; father, Larry Lewis; siblings, Sandy (Alan) VanCura, Patty Reilly, Mel (Mindy) Lewis and Robert (Jany) Lewis; and numerous extended family and friends. Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Lewis; mother and father-in-law, Leo and Margaret Ronspies; nephew, Blase Ronspies; brother-in-law, Paul Ronspies and sister-in-law, Barbara Wieczorek.
