Funeral Postponed to 4:00 p.m today, March 19, at the Berean Church, due to weather. Jerry Huismann 63, of Grand Island went to his Heavenly home on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at CHI Health-St. Francis. Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 19th at the Berean Bible Church, 4116 W. Capital Avenue. Pastor Jim Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday at the Berean Bible Church. Memorials are suggested to the Berean Bible Church. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Jerry was born on October 11, 1961 in Grand Island, the son of Donald and Rita (Heitz) Huismann. He was raised in Grand Island graduating from GISH, class of 1979. He received his Bachelors degree in Construction Management from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. On December 18, 1982, Jerry was united in marriage to Lisa Garrelts. This union was blessed with children, Tyler, Tony, and Madison. Jerry worked with his father in the family business, Lacy Construction, later becoming President. He was active in his community, serving on numerous local and state boards. His memberships included the Berean Bible Church, GI Rotary, Association of General Contractors on both the State and National levels, Riverside Country Club and the GI Saddle Club. Jerry was a student of the scriptures, being part of multiple men’s bible study groups, one of which lasted over 20 years. He also enjoyed golfing and hunting, and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was keen to spend time at Sherman Reservoir, boating with his family and relaxing on the water. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him ‘Papa.’ And he and Lisa are lifelong fans of Nebraska sports, having spent many Saturdays with family and friends cheering on the Huskers. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Lisa; children and their spouses, Tyler (Darcy) Huismann of Louisville, CO, Tony (Samantha) Huismann of Lincoln, and Madison (A.J.) Grovas of Omaha; grandchildren, Hannah, Emma, Elijah and soon to be blessed with another granddaughter in May. He is also survived by his sisters, Pat (Larry) Anderson, Marcia Brown and Julie (Mel) Griess; his father-in-law, Delmar Garrelts; sisters-in-law, Brenda Zitek and Beth Bamesberger, and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Linda Huismann and Donna Anderson, nephew Chris Brown, mother-in-law, Mona Garrelts, and brother-in-law, Larry Zitek.
