Junior (Bill) Grossart

Grossart, (Junior) William Junior (Bill) Grossart, 88, of Grand Island, died on June 7, 2014, at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Grand Island, NE, following a long illness. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 11, at 10:30 A.M. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island. Father Todd Philipsen will officiate. Burial will be at 3:00 P.M. at the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach, with military honors provided by the United Veterans Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., followed by the rosary, at All Faiths Funeral. Junior (Bill) was born on January 5, 1926 to William and Josephine (Berney) Grossart in Wolbach, NE. He was raised in Wolbach, where he received his education. After graduating from Wolbach High School in 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1946. On October 27, 1947 he married Mary Pauline McKenzie in O’Connor, NE. This union was blessed with four children. Following their marriage they lived in Wolbach for 25 years where he worked at the Wolbach Locker, McIntyre Hardware, and the Cornhusker Ammunition Plant in Grand Island. Later they moved to Grand Island where he was employed at the Nebraska Veterans Home as a painter until he retired. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Pauline; one sister, Willa Berney of Wolbach; four children, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren: Rita (Jerry) Lammers of Grand Island and their two son: Brian (Ashley) Lammers, and children, Shelby and Toby; second son, Brad Lammers. Susan (Verlyn) L’Heureux of Omaha, and their two sons: Tracy (Katie) O’Gorman, and children, Triston, Dylan and Quinten; second son, Travis (Amy) O’Gorman, and children, Alex, Nevan, and Eamon. Bill (Pamela) Grossart of Grand Island and their two sons: Brandon (Amber) Grossart, and children, Peytin, and Ava, second son, Blake Grossart. Rosanne (Dan) Christensen of Wolbach, and their four daughters and one son: Jackie (Sean) Gellatly, and children, Reagan, Hannah, and Dax; Amanda Christensen, and son, Preston; Josh Christensen, and daughter, Kelsey; Andrea, and Katie Christensen. Also, surviving is a sister-ion-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Frank Dubas of Columbus along with a host of extended family and friends. Junior (Bill) is preceded in death by his parents and five sisters, Evelyn Cook, Lila Terry, Lillian Wickard, Agnes Patrick, and Ruby Bearbower along with a grandson, Todd Lammers. Junior (Bill) was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, American Legion Post 53, V.F.W. Post 1347, and 40 & 8. He loved family gatherings, working crossword puzzles, volunteering, watching sports and attending his grandchildren’s athletic events. Above all, he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s visits. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.
