Klinton Richard Sherrill

Klinton Richard Sherrill, 28, of Grand Island passed from this world on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. No smile as bright, no heart as big, and no soul as pure existed on this earth. Dedication and Celebration of life will be held in Stolley Park at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016. To honor Klinton’s wishes it will be a short ceremony with family and friends remembering him and eating together enjoying one another’s company. Klinton was born March 1, 1988 to Leslie “Rain” Soto and Kenneth Sherrill, Sr. in Great Bend Kansas, the 5th of 8 children. Klinton spent his childhood in Stafford, Kansas with his mother and father and later with his father and second mother, Jennie Williams. He enjoyed the addition of his next two siblings from that union. Klinton enjoyed all of life as a simple thing. Klinton could never see the faults of a person, only the heart. He never held a grudge and he had the most genuine smile ever seen. He valued family above all else and loved everyone he met. He loved fishing with his brothers, sisters, and dad when he was young. Klinton never lost the love of the outdoors and fishing was a passion. He went to school in Stafford, Kansas, graduating in 2006. He found a love for basketball while attending Stafford High School and carried that love until his death playing often with his best friend Jeremy Montave and good friend Matt Sherman on weekends. He had a passion for art and was a fabulous artist since a young age. He shared that passion growing up with his childhood best friend, Shane Dick, in Stafford. Pat and Tammy Dick and their children were family to Klinton and he talked about Shane and their high school days with great fondness always. When he was 18 he moved to Nebraska to live with his mother in Wood River. He began working for William Carter Construction shortly after arriving in Wood River and loved working for Bill. His Epilepsy became an issue however, and he was forced to find different work. But with a smile he carried on and obtained a job with Rich and Sons RV’s where he worked for several years in the detail department; joined after a time by his brother Kerwin. Klinton moved on to work for Tilley Sprinkler Systems and Landscaping where he found his true working passion. He loved the art of the patios and the care you had to take planting plants. He loved the hard work and dedication it took to do the job. The Tilley Sprinklers family took Klinton under their wing and taught him many things. He took such pride in his work there. Earlier this year Klinton changed jobs and joined his friends working for Elite Dreamscapes, owned also by two friends, Dean Schafer and Steve Meyer. He loved their after-work pool games in the shop, and playing basketball with coworkers after a long hard day. Klinton shared the love of old cars with his stepfather, Joe Soto, Sr. who preceded him in death. He was a very painfully shy young man, but became much less so with the close circle of friends he developed the last few years. He particularly loved the family weekly meals with Leslie and David and whatever varied family members and friends were present each week He will be remembered most for his thoughtfulness of others, his easy simple outlook on life, and his pure unadulterated heart and soul. He will be forever missed by his huge family and his small tight knit group of friends. Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Kenneth Sherrill, Sr., Leslie “Rain” Soto and David Haynes, and Jennie Williams; his siblings, Kenneth “Buddy” Sherrill and Stacie of McCrakken Kansas, Athena Reed and Mike of Stafford, Kansas, Celena Vanderlinde and Chris of Wamego, Kansas, Serena Pack and Vince of Arkansas, Kristian Sherrill of Urbana, Ohio, Kerwin Sherrill & Carissa Young of Wood River, Nebraska, Kaitlyn Sherrill of Stafford, Nebraska, and Kenton Sherrill of Stafford Nebraska. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Haley and Nickoli Sherrill, Taryn, Kilyn, and Gavin Reed, Serenity, Lakota, and Chevelle Pack, Jaxon Vanderlinde, and Brooklyn Williams; grandparents, Elva Sherrill of Stafford, Kansas, Diana Webster of Larned, Kansas and Linda Creacy of Great Bend, Kansas; aunts and uncles, JD Sherrill of Stafford Kansas, Karma Sherrill of Woodward, Oklahoma, Tina Webster of Larned, Kansas, Jeff and Susan Knepp of Grand Island, Nebraska, Mike Cole of McPhersons Kansas, Sam and Nicki Williams (and family) of McPherson, Kansas, Lonnie and Christy Creacy of Garden City, Kansas, and Robbie and Wendy Lea of Lyons, Kansas; and cousins, Melissa, Jeff, and Brandon Sherrill, and Christina Webster of Larned, Kansas. Klinton was preceded in death by his brother, Chester Kent Sherrill; stepfather, Joseph Soto, Sr.; grandfathers, Richard Webster, Amos Sherrill, and Sam Williams; and uncle, AC Sherrill.
