LaVonne E. Knuth, 91, of Grand Island passed away on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2024. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gollaher Chapel. Pastor Kelly Karges will officiate. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Child Saving Institute in Omaha and the GRACE Foundation. LaVonne was born on December 18, 1932 in Grand Island, daughter of Emil and Thelma (Gillham) Christensen. She received her education from Grand Island Senior High and graduated with the class of 1951. On December 12, 1951 she married Don Knuth. Two months after their marriage, Don was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. They made their home in Chapman, Alda and Grand Island. She was employed by Jack Bailey Studio, Fairacres Dairy and St. Francis Medical Center. While raising their daughters, LaVonne ran an in-home daycare. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Grand Island Sketch Club. She loved to accompany Don on drives into the country and visiting old homesteads. She was a talented artist; she received two 1st and two 2nd places in her Visual Arts entries at the 2022 Nebraska State Fair. She also loved sewing, photography, and gardening. LaVonne loved her family, she was a sweet and kind soul, a beloved aunt and kept everyone on their toes with her quick wit and sense of humor. Her family will cherish her love and care. LaVonne is survived by her daughters, Karin (Abe) Rojas of Wood River and Karleen Knuth (Jason McClure) of Leawood, KS; grandchildren, MSG Lucas (Katelyn) Smith, Molly Smith, Abie (Kayla) Rojas and Jaime Rojas; great-grandchildren, Jack P. Smith, Lucas J. Smith, Ezrah A.J. Smith and Wrenley S. Rojas with another due in June; brothers, James Christensen of Phillips and Dennis Christensen of Grand Island; brothers-in-law, Howard (Arlene) Knuth, Gordan (Diane) Knuth, Dennis (Wanda) Knuth; sister-in-law, Karen Knuth; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents; sisters, Dode Vinyard and Dixie Christensen; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Dick Edwards, brothers Bob Christensen, and Gerald Christensen; sisters-in-law, Alta Christensen, and Sonia Christensen; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eugene and Carol Knuth; brother-in-law, Larry Knuth; sister-in-law, Donna Knuth and a dear Aunt, Evelyn Magnuson.
