Leota Zinnel-Kline

Leota Zinnel-Kline, 92, of Ravenna, formerly of Grand Island, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, August 13 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 324 Kufus Ave, Ravenna. Rev. Micah Gaunt will officiate. Burial will follow at Ravenna Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday at All Faiths Funeral Home. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Leota was born on June 11, 1926 in Hazard, the daughter of Elmer and Etta (Giffen) Smith. Leota was raised on the family farm near Hazard, where she learned the value of a hard day’s work and how to care for the numerous animals that they raised. She graduated from Hazard High School, class of 1944. On October 17, 1944 Leota was united in marriage to Eldon Zinnel. This union was blessed with four children and 42 years together until his passing in 1986. They made their home in Ravenna and Leota kept busy with the day to day chores that come with living on the farm, the excitement of four children and employment at Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna. On February 14, 1990 Leota married Arthur Kline. Leota soon retired from the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna and they made their home in Grand Island. Leota was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Grand Island and active in many ministries. She was an excellent cook and baker and lent her expertise to the church, helping with many meals. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. After Arthur’s death, Leota returned to Ravenna where she was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Leota loved to travel, having been to every state. Often her trips would include other family members or visits to relatives living in different states. Leota enjoyed the outdoors and usually had large vegetable and flower gardens. She was a gifted quilter for her grandchildren and family. She loved her large family and caring for all the little ones. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Ron (Linda) Zinnell of Ravenna, Carol (Jerry) Mulford of Kenesaw, Becky (Don) Deines of Cairo, and Gary (Deb) Zinnel of Columbus; stepchildren, Rick (Sharon) Fluckey of Hastings and Sondra Fry of Grand Island; brothers, Clinton Smith of Kearney, Dave Smith of Gibbon, and Delbert Smith of Missouri; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers, Allen and Ted Smith; sisters Verna Feurt, Erma Howell and Marge Walker; granddaughter, Brandy Zinnel; stepson, Larry Fry. Memorials are designated to the family.
