Margaret "Margie" Esparza

Margaret “Margie” A. Esparza, 77 of Grand Island joyfully went to be with her savior on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Tiffany Square Care Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Berean Bible Church with visitation an hour prior. Pastor Jim Reynolds will officiate. Burial will take place on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in Edwardsville, KS. Margie was born on September 12, 1939 at Colorado Springs, CO, daughter of Jesse and Eva Mae (Livings) Walker. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Kimberly (Rod) Foley of Grand Island, Mark (Pam) Morgan of Ypsilanti, MI; step-children, Daniel (Kris) Esparza of Dallas, TX, Carlos Esparza of Denver, CO; Alicia (Matthew) Esparza-Spriggs of Taos, NM, Rebecca (Dave) Dutton of Denver, CO; brother, Bob Walker of Ohio; eight grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Bobo; numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kurt Morgan and second husband Alexander Esparza; sisters, Mary Hanni and Doris Croft; brothers, Bill Walker, Chuck Walker, and Don Walker. Margie grew up in Harper, KS and attended school at Harper and Wichita. In 1957 she was united in marriage to Kurt Morgan and they were married for 32 years. On February 18, 1995 she was united in marriage to Alex Esparza. After her second marriage the couple made their home in Colorado for ten years and then moved to Louisburg, KS. Recently they moved to Grand Island to be near her daughter, Kimberly. Margie enjoyed working at the Hen House and Price Shopper grocery stores for over 17 years while living in Kansas City. She was an active member of the Grand Island Berean Bible Church where she volunteered with the children with the Awana and was a member of the Prime Timers program. Margie enjoyed bowling, golf, traveling, dancing, and playing cards, but most of all she loved to share her faith with others. Her favorite pastime was attending her grandchildren’s events. Margie loved to listen to her grandson Peter the opera singer; watching her granddaughters Sarah and Gabrielle, in their ballet performances; and grandsons, Ethan and Noah at their school and sporting events. Memorials are suggested to Grand Island Berean Bible Church.
