Mark A Porter

Mark Alan Porter, 48, of Grand Island passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Grand Island Regional Medical Center after a 2-year long battle with brain cancer. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at All Faiths Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the Grand Island Seventh Day Adventist Church at 636 South Shady Bend Road, Grand Island, NE 68801. Pastor Anebal Santeliz will officiate. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to family for future designation. Mark was born on March 9, 1978, in Lincoln, son of Larry and Marie (Streeter) Porter. He grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island High School with the class of 1997. He received his electrician degree from Central Community College. On July 5, 2014, he married Amanda Wakefield. He spent the next 12 years being a devoted husband who spoiled his wife every chance he could. Mark never shied away from hard work and put his electrical degree to use in the maintenance department of many local businesses. He was no stranger to cancer, having beat grade 3 brain cancer in 2006. He was in remission for 18 years before his recurrence. He never blamed God for allowing him to have cancer. Mark loved to meet new people that soon became friends throughout his life. His sense of humor and huge heart endeared to everyone. Mark made the effort to stay in touch with friends and family, often calling his grandparents, aunts and uncles. Mark enjoyed driving his trucks around town and taking the road less traveled. He was patriotic and would go out of his way to show his appreciation to any veteran he met. Mark loved his Lord and his faith was present every day. His memory is cherished by his wife, Amanda; son, Chris Porter; mother, Marie Rouse; brother, Eric (Kelley) Porter, nieces, Alexa and Georgia; sister, Ann Porter; father and mother-in-law, Mark and Carla Wakefield; sister-in-law, Meagan (Austin) Whaley, nieces and nephews, Michael, Aiden, Adeline; brother-in-law, Aaron (Rachel) Wakefield, nieces and nephews, Remington, Camryn, Aksel and Viggo; numerous extended family and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Larry; stepfather “Pops”, Leslie Rouse Sr.; Grandpa and Grandma, Robert and Florence Streeter; and Grandma Hattie Porter.
