Mary Ann McBride

Mary Ann McBride, 86, of Grand Island died at her home on Saturday, June 20, 2015, with her family by her side. To honor Mary Ann’s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, June 25 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, rosary to follow at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, June 26. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Fr. Todd Philipsen will officiate. Private family burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family. Mary Ann was born on June 11, 1929 in Shickley, Ne, daughter of Harry and Norma (Walters) Becker. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Fran (Jim) Arends of Grand island; Don (Patty) McBride of Grand Island; Marilyn McBride of Grand Island; Jan (Roger) Albertson of Watertown, SD; and Ron “Joe” (Kim) McBride of St. Paul, NE; grandchildren, Rosie (Dennis) Fruchtl; Christi (Barry) Burrows; J.J. (Kelly) Arends; T.J. (Kim ) Arends; Shellie (Troy) Farrell; Dan (Mandy)McBride; Doug (Elizabeth) McBride; Jasmine Williams; Jesse Albertson; Shayanna Albertson; Joel Albertson; Sam Albertson, Dave (Niki) Kirkland; and 19 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Frank Becker and sister, Betty Terrell. Mary Ann was raised in the Sutton area, where she received her education; she went on to cosmetology school in Hastings. While living in Indianola, she met Charles “Charlie” McBride. They were united in marriage on July 17, 1948; this union was blessed with five children. In 1956 they made their home in Grand Island, where Mary Ann was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. While raising her children she worked as a beautician out of her home. Mary Ann was known as the “Fun Grandma” and adored all of her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a wonderful cook, whether it was midnight nachos, fudge, or the all time favorite, cinnamon rolls. Family was most important to Mary Ann. It was a love that she passed on to her children and grandchildren, often reminding them, “As you walk through life, friends may come, friends may go, but family is forever.” Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
