Milton Kenneth Brandt

“Kenny” Milton Kenneth Brandt, 84 of Grand Island died Saturday, November 15, 2014 at CHI Health-St. Francis. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. Reverend Dr. Teresa Mason, Reverend Darren Guthridge and Dan Naranjo will officiate. Military honors will be rendered by the United Veterans Honor Guard and the Nebraska Army National Guard at the church. Cremation will take place following the service with burial of ashes in the Grand Island Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Mr. Brandt was born January 8, 1930 at Albion, NE the son of Jacob “Fred” and Tillie Irene (Barbee) Brandt. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years Helen; children and their spouses, Scott and Nan Brandt of Papillion, Deborah Brandt of Hastings, Keith and Teresa Brandt of Olathe, KS, Shelley Pinkston Carter of Grand Island and David and Beth Ann Brandt of Grand Island and fourteen grandchildren, Lt. Joshua and Lt. Judee Brandt, Brooke Bottolfson, Brandt Bottolfson, Regina and Paul Apel, Carlie and Jonathan Tucker, Casey and Brenda Quaife, Cody Quaife, Colby and Ashley Quaife, Caylee Pinkston, Stephanie Brandt, Ashley Brandt, Andrew and Savana Brandt, Kimberly Brandt and Ryleigh Brandt and eleven great-grandchildren and soon to be blessed with another great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bonnie Mae Miller; brother, JF Brandt and sons-in-law, Darrel Pinkston and James Carter. Kenny was raised at Loretto, NE near Albion. He graduated from Albion High School, class of 1947. He entered the United States Army in 1948 and served during the Korean War. He served full time in the Nebraska Army National Guard, retiring in 1990. He was called back to active duty during Desert Storm. On June 1, 1952, Kenny was united in marriage to the love of his life, Helen Reynoldson at Albion. They made Grand Island their home where they raised their five children. Some of his memberships included Trinity United Methodist Church, serving on many of the church’s committees; Methodist Men; Stephen’s Ministry; the American Legion Post #53; 40 and 8; life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars having served as commander; Nebraska Admirals; Korean War Veterans; Nebraska Army National Guard and Military Retirees; lifetime member of the DAV; United Veterans Honor Guard; Veterans Service Office Board and was a bingo caller at the United Veterans Club. Most recently Kenny was an honorary co-chair for the Korean War Hero Flights. He had a great love for Country, Flag, Family and Faith. Memorials are suggested to either the Vietnam War Hero Flight or to the church.
