Pedro Escobar

Pedro Escobar, 85, of Grand Island passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021 at CHI-Health St. Francis. Visitation for Pedro will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home on Thursday, August 5. Rosary will be recited at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 6 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Celebrant will be Fr. Jorge Canela. Burial to follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Pedro was born on November 26, 1935 at Orange Grove, TX, son of Rosalio and Emiliana Escobar. Pedro grew up knowing the value of hard work to help provide for his family, even at a young age. He went to work in the fields to help his family after completing grade school. On October 4, 1961 he was united in marriage to his support and best friend, Frances Moreno. The couple eventually made their home in Grand Island where Pedro found employment at Philips 66, Case New Holland, McCains Food; and learned how to install and care for glass at Island Glass, eventually owning and operating Escobar Glass in Grand Island for many years. Pedro enjoyed bowling, and even tried golf a few times. While younger, Pedro attended dances with Frances and made many trips to see family in Texas and Colorado. When his grandchildren began playing sports and school activities, he loved to make time to attend. Pedro adored his family and loved big family get togethers. He is survived by his children, Pete Escobar of Auburn, Lydia Escobar of Grand Island, Mary (Allen Hoffman) Escobar of Grand Island, Patty (Tim) Slattery of Grand Island; grandchildren, Tory (Randy) Wadas, Vincent Phillip, Lindsay Annette Rhoads, Joshua Martin (Tonya Rock) Rhoads, Jason Michael (Shashauna Towler) Rhoads, Toni Escobar, Felicia (Matt) Chambers, William (Janessa) Slattery, and Christina Slattery; 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Florencio, Gilbert and Jose; sisters, Mary Mestas, Sylvia Albila, Dominga Rodriquez, Lupe Olmos, Clara Lopez and Rosa Ortiz; along with numerous nieces nephews and extended family and friends. Pedro was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances; brothers, Julio and Feliciano.
