Rex W Marshall

Rex W. Marshall, 63, of Aurora formerly of Grand Island went to celebrate his birthday with Jesus on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. Visitation will be held Sunday from 5 to 7 at All Faiths Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church am with a luncheon to follow. Pastor Adam Snoberger will officiate. Burial to be determined at a later date in Burwell Nebraska. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements, memorials are suggested to Mid-Nebraska Individual Services. Rex Wayne Marshall was born on March 29, 1960 to Charles and Wynona (Brewer) Marshall in Ord Nebraska where he grew up and graduated from Ord high school. Rex shared a close bond with his mom. After graduation, he told her that he wanted to go to college like his friends. In October of 1979 at the age of 19 he was finally able to realize his dream of living on his own. He moved to Grand Island where he joined the MNIS family and lived there until a week before his death. He went home to be with the Lord at Westfield Nursing home in Aurora on his birthday, March 29, 2023. Rex had an infectious smile and a huge bear hug for everyone that he encountered. He was a lifelong fan of Elvis; loved music and had no greater joy than to do his famous Elvis impersonation using a hair brush for a microphone. He loved attending Joseph Hall concerts and singing along to the music. He was a huge Husker fan but his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He loved banana splits, dancing, singing Karaoke, rodeos, wrestling and spreading joy where ever he went. Rex was happiest when he was on the go. Rex was member of Trinity Lutheran Church and he had a tremendous faith. He looked forward to Sunday school and church every week. Rex loved to pray and to read Bible verses out loud in Sunday school. His church family was very important to him. Another favorite of his was the coffee and donuts. He participated in C Champs at Camp Luther for many years. He was also a member of the Wednesday Group, and participated in Special Olympics Bowling, Basketball, and Track. One of his proudest moments was taking 1st place in Special Olympics Bowling at the state games. He volunteered at the Grand Generation center, and worked on contract at the ADC. Rex loved to work, even on his gloomiest days he would rather be at work then at home. Rex had many friends but shared a special bond with Susan Wilson, who after working with him for several years, became his guardian. Rex spent many weekends, holidays and special occasions with Susan and her family. Those left to cherish his memory include: his brother, Ron of Ord Nebraska; his guardian, Susan Wilson of Grand Island; and his MNIS and church families. Rex was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and Wynona
